This role is with iPP Analytics Limited (“iPP”) at the Pathology First joint venture with Southend University Hospital and Basildon and Thurrock University Hospitals in South Essex. Pathology First delivers full laboratory services for both Hospitals covering all pathology disciplines including Blood Transfusion, Biochemistry, Haematology, Immunology, Microbiology, Histopathology, Cytopathology and Phlebotomy. Pathology First supports a population of 750,000 patients and over 250 GP practices across six CCGs in South Essex.

Pathology First brings together the skills and experience of SYNLAB, through iPP, and our Hospital partners to strengthen the quality, delivery and efficiency of pathology services, providing:

  • Modern, refurbished, central laboratory in Basildon which opened in February 2016
  • New, state of the art equipment
  • Optimised layouts that ensure the most efficient use of time and resources
  • Industry tested, robust IT systems that are fully integrated and utilised between laboratories and referral sites
  • Deployment of international best working practices that deliver efficiency savings

We are looking to recruit Phlebotomists to expand our teams at Basildon and Thurrock University Hospital, Southend University Hospital and other local community clinics throughout South Essex. As a Phlebotomist you will be taking blood samples from patients for all our pathology services.

This role is ideally suited for someone who is caring, friendly and has an extremely steady hand. You will need excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work and communicate with a large team across multiple sections.

Our Phlebotomy services are available Monday to Friday 07.00am – 20.00pm and at weekends and bank holidays 07.00am – 13.00pm. Due to the wide operating times, you would be working a combination of shifts each week which would include early and late shifts. Weekends and bank holidays are essential and also an expectation for this role, however they are on a rotational basis.

A full driving license and access to your own vehicle is essential, as you will be required to travel to a variety of community clinic locations, previous experience is not essential as we offer full training. Successful applicants will undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service check.
