An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced cancer nurse to apply for the role of Macmillan Head & Neck Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist, leading specialist nursing care and support for patients from the point of diagnosis and throughout the illness experience.

The Macmillan Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist is a core member of the Head & Neck and Endocrine multi-disciplinary team, managing a caseload of patients, providing specialist information, help and support from the point of diagnosis. The role involves coordinating the patients’ pathway, undertaking a comprehensive holistic assessment and care planning to meet the individual needs of patient/carers

Other aspects of the role include leading service development, research/audit to enhance the cancer patient experience.

We welcome applications from highly motivated and experienced cancer nurses who ideally have worked as a Clinical Nurse Specialist before. In depth knowledge related to Head & Neck cancer is essential as well other National Directives including the Cancer Recovery Package

Interested applicants must be a Registered Nurse and hold a First Level Degree in cancer/palliative care. An accredited communication skills course and a recognised teaching qualification is an advantage.

Applicants must be able to demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills and provide evidence of working autonomously as well as part of a team.
