An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the busy and dynamic team working within the Sexual Health and Contraception Service in Shropshire. The Sexual Health and Contraception service is an integrated service which operates at Severnfields Health Village in Shrewsbury Shropshire. We are a multi-professional progressive team providing a comprehensive, evidence based and patient focused service for Contraception and Sexual Health.

We are looking for an experienced registered nurse to fill the role of B6 Sexual Health Lead Nurse. The successful candidate will contribute to the delivery of an effective and efficient service in a professional and sensitive manner. It is essential that the post holder has a recognised qualification and experience in the provision of contraception and qualification/experience in sexual health (GU) care. A letter of competence in the insertion and removal of subdermal implants and/or IUC (or working towards) together with excellent communication and team working skills are essential. Flexibility in working hours is expected including weekend and evening working to meet the needs of the service.

We offer a full induction programme, clinical supervision, excellent managerial support and professional development opportunities to all team members.

The service is commissioned to provide an integrated Sexual Health Service (ISH) as detailed in the national strategy for Sexual Health and HIV. This model involves a multidisciplinary team approach. The ISH service supports triage of patients to assist them in accessing the correct level of care as appropriate. The Commissioner requests that a proportion is nurse delivered, referring, where appropriate to a consultant led specialist provision.

The ISH aims to enable the residents of Shropshire, to have positive sexual health and wellbeing, with the specific desire to deliver a range of high-quality responsive cost-effective and confidential service. The service also supports other community settings through the provision of professional training.
