The Ambulance Radio Programme (ARP) team is a national team hosted by South West Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust, but the majority of staff are regionally based and spread across England providing local support to Ambulance Trusts. ARP supports the Ambulance Trusts on a 24/7/365 basis with an on-call rota for out of hours advice, support, and escalation.

 

ARP currently provides NHS Ambulance Trusts with:

 

• Access to the Airwave network

• A managed service for the radio terminals

• Integrated communications control systems (ICCS)

• Mobile data terminals and applications.

 

Future Delivery

 

ARP has been tasked by Association of Ambulance Chief Executives and the Department of Health & Social Care with delivering the Home Office led Emergency Services Mobile Communications Programme (ESMCP) into the Ambulance Trusts in England. ESMCP will be delivering the Emergency Services Network (ESN) replacing the current Airwave network. The involvement in the ESMCP programme is extensive and members of the ARP team sit across a wide number of supporting work streams with the focus moving into ESN Delivery and Deployment. The volume of work ARP undertakes within the ESMCP is forecast to increase further in the coming months as deployment plans are further developed against the ESN Delivery.

 

ARP also has two established parallel programmes “Control Room Solution” and “Mobile Data & Vehicle Solutions’. Both Programmes closely follow the ESMCP delivery to ensure critical communication services for NHS Ambulance Trusts are maintained.

 

This role will support the Senior User & Assurance Manager in being responsible for assuring that ARP and ESN services meet the operational requirements of the Ambulance Trusts. They will work closely with Ambulance Trusts to ensure that ARP and ESN are delivering significant benefits to Trusts that provide enhancements to both patient care and Ambulance Trusts service delivery.

 

You will be a strong leader with the ability to develop and maintain effective and credible relationships with a wide range of stakeholders and suppliers including Ambulance Trust Senior Managers, Senior Police & Fire Officers, representatives of wider government departments and the ESN suppliers. The ARP team covers the whole of England, so the post requires regular travel and overnight stays.

 

It should be noted that it is a requirement the applicant must have recent experience of working within a senior operational role within an NHS Ambulance Trust/Emergency Services
