An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Catering Supervisor to assist with overseeing the catering team, including ward hosts, retail areas and meal assembly at Northampton General Hospital along with associated duties to include menu analysis, catering porters & central wash up services in addition to providing a missed meal service and internal functions/hospitality provisions within the main Hospital building.

Any successful candidate must have experience in working in previous food environment and ideally have held a previous position of team/shift leader or above for a minimum period of 2 years . Communication skills are a must as the post holder will have to demonstrate great leadership skills within the team and also with other departments within catering and clinical colleagues at ward level. Basic food hygiene is a minimum requirement with level 3 being preferred along with qualifications in kitchen management/supervision, although further advanced training may be provided.

Knowledge of COSHH & HACCP systems would also be required for this post along with proven stock management skills & working within a strict pay/non-pay budget.

Knowledge of staff annual appraisals and training would be desired but not essential as training and support would be given

The successful candidate would report directly to the deputy catering services manager & catering services manager and would be joining a well-established team.

Drive, ambition, pride, organisation skills and the ability to react to the ever changing needs of our clientele is essential with problem solving being a key skill required for this post. On occasions the post holder would be required to conduct tours of the department and organise events such as food tasting sessions and training for non-catering staff.

This post is a job share opportunity at 20 hours per week, flexible working hours and the ability to work up to five days from seven is essential as holiday and sickness cover would be required
