Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust delivers community health services to people living across Sussex. Our coastal community service is expanding, and an opportunity has arisen for a Band 3 Healthcare Assistant to join our Responsive Services team in Chichester. The role will be based at Chichester, but staff are expected to provide cover to a large geographical area including Arundel, Bognor Regis Chichester, Pulborough and Midhurst. We use mobile working, which helps us to reduce unnecessary travelling between visits.

The successful candidate will work in the community, supported by registered nurses and therapists. The post holder will need to work autonomously as well as part of a team, and required to work shifts covering 8am-4pm or 12pm-8pm, up to seven days a week.

We're looking for someone who can demonstrate excellent communication skills, an understanding of how to help people manage their health conditions in the community setting, and knowledge and practical skills such as skin and wound care, specimen collection, and taking observations.

We are a short term service with a key focus on facilitating discharges and reducing admissions to hospital. We work closely with our medical colleagues, including GPs and community elderly care consultants, providing a joint approach to the management of our patients. We provide expert interventions and advice to our patients and the local community on managing illness and exacerbations which could result in deterioration of health and wellbeing. We treat people in the community, so a car driver and owner is essential.

We offer a well-supported working environment and excellent opportunities for professional and clinical development.
