You can achieve more at St Andrew’s Healthcare

A top 20 UK charity, St Andrew’s is a unique provider of specialist care in mental health and learning disability. We aspire to deliver truly world class, holistic services within our outstanding, modern facilities. Our independence means we can always put patients’ interests at the heart of decision making, while re-investing surpluses in frontline services.

Our patients and your colleagues will expect you to live the St Andrew’s CARE values of Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Excellence every single day

The Service & Role

The service provides acute psychiatric services to male and female working age adults and aims to rapidly stabilise acutely mentally unwell patients to allow them to return to open services in their home area in the shortest possible time.

Our PICU services provide tailored treatment programs that are developed to recognise each individual’s strengths, needs and risks, with specific emphasis on treating mental illness and starting the recovery process.

The service has a track record for innovation and using outcome measures to provide the highest quality of care.

Bayley and Heygate Wards are Psychiatric Intensive Care Units within the Low and Specialist rehabilitation Division, based in Northampton. They offer short periods of rapid assessment, intensive treatment and stabilisation for 10 women and 10 men within a locked setting. The service is expanding to incorporate a third PICU in the New Year.

If you would like to be part of working with an innovative and dynamic team; be able to develop and deliver up to date treatments; and work in a supportive environment then this is the place for you! This will be a personally and professionally rewarding role. The post-holder will be able to undertake non-clinical activities of interest e.g. research, teaching, governance and management - in an innovative way, and influence the direction of services in order for them to attain the best outcomes for our patients.

About You

The successful candidate will join an established MDT and help shape services further through strategic decision-making and improvement projects. You will also be able to undertake research projects as part of St Andrew's commitment to innovation and world-class care. The successful candidate will lead on the expansion of the PICU service.

Applicants must have MRCPsych or equivalent and hold a CCT, preferably in Forensic Psychiatry or Adult Psychiatry.
