Due to re-structuring, we have created opportunities to recruit 2 permanent Specialist Speech and Language Therapists.
St. Andrew's Speech and Language Therapy Team are a centralised profession that work across a variety of clinical areas, supporting patients with complex mental health and challenging behaviour needs. We offer specialist input for Speech, Language and Communication Needs and Dysphagia/Mealtime Support.
The St. Andrew’s Speech & Language Team includes SLT assistants to Band 7 clinicians who can offer you the support and development needed to have a great career in the profession. This role will allow the opportunity to be involved in the development of the SLT service with support and guidance from established members of the team. This role would suit a dysphagia qualified Band 5 ready for that step up or someone already established at Band 6 level.
Summary of job role:
- Work independently and as part of a wider MDT and create innovative plans of care as a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist, as set out in the RCSLT Knowledge and Skills Framework.
- Share your knowledge of assessment and management of Speech, Language and Communication Needs relevant to one or more of the patients groups at St. Andrew's.
- Grow your abilities in specialist assessment and management for patients with dysphagia and mealtime needs.
- Provide specialist training on a wide range of topics related to your professional expertise with both the SLT Team and the wider charity staff.
- Demonstrate your professional expertise by supervising new clinicians, while accessing dedicated and protected supervision to continue to grow as a therapist.
- Desire to join a hard-working and fun team and enjoy working in a unique clinical setting while changing the lives of our patients.
What are we looking for:
- Evidence of working knowledge and clinical skills in CAHMS, ASD/LD, and/or Neurological based areas such as brain injury, dementia and Huntington’s disease.
- Completion of RCSLTNQPCompetencyFramework.
- Satisfied the requirements for recognised UK Dysphagia Qualification.
