COVID Pandemic Immuniser, Band 6

COVID-19 has been the single greatest public health emergency in the history of the NHS

The response of current NHS staff and those who have come forward to help out in any capacity has been nothing short of inspirational, and played a major role in the first phase of the pandemic.

At the same time as pulling out all the stops to ensure everyone who needed care has been able to get it, NHS People have also contributed to the important global effort to develop safe and effective vaccines for the virus, working closely with research partners.

If you live in any of our boroughs – Bexley, Bromley, Greenwich, and Lewisham - and are able help your local NHS in either a paid of voluntary capacity, we want to hear from you as we continue to have a range of opportunities for individuals to support the global fight against this pandemic.

One way you could help is through the mass vaccination Programme.

The NHS is preparing extensively to begin mass delivery of the Covid-19 vaccine, as soon as it becomes available. This will be a huge task for everyone! While it isn’t yet certain when a Covid-19 vaccine will be available, the NHS in London is working hard to ensure we are ready to offer it when it is. You already know this will be the biggest immunisation programme of our time.

We now need experienced vaccinators and support staff to step forward in the continued fight against coronavirus and help to deliver an effective Covid-19 vaccination programme.

We are looking to recruit from our local communities to enable us to provide a safe and effective vaccination programme while continuing to offer timely access and minimal impact on other NHS services.

You will be working either at an existing NHS estate or temporary standalone service within a local community which will be open 7 days a week from 8am – 8pm daily.

Extensive preparations will ensure people across London can access a vaccine, regardless of where they live, once it has undergone strict clinical trials and is approved for use by the independent regulator.

There are lots of different roles available within our Vaccination team for individuals who have a current NHS recognised registration, or recently lapsed, and previous needles and sharps experience.

Vaccinator team

  • Clinical supervisor for immunisations – Band 6 - registered clinician
  • Registered Health Care Professional immuniser – Band 5 registered clinician

We are looking for people who are able and willing to be part of the vaccinator team to commit to a minimum one day a week and be able to work any hours between 8am - 8pm. Flexibility in terms of hours available is possible so let us know what you are able to commit to and for how long on your application.

As you can imagine, resourcing this ask is a challenge in itself. When you apply, you’ll see there are some initial screening questions that we need you to answer so that we can ensure we can align supply with demand as effectively as possible.

Individuals will be working from non-clinical sites where public transport may be limited so please highlight on your application the best methods of travel available for you to help us to assign you to the best possible place if successful.

All of the above roles are subject to a DBS check and references.
