  • High secure services at Broadmoor Hospital in Berkshire

A Great Opportunity has arisen for a Nurse to work at the renowned Cassel Hospital
We are looking for skilled and passionate Band 5 Nurses, both experienced and newly qualified, to join our dedicated team at The Cassel Inpatient Service. This appointment would be for 1 year on fixed term or Secondment.


The Cassel Hospital in Richmond, Surrey, is a National Tier 4 Specialist Service for adults and young people with severe and complex personality disorder. The Cassel is a long-established centre of excellence and provides intensive psychosocial inpatient treatments and therapies.

In 2021 we celebrate 100 years of being open. We have a Block contract arrangement for patients from England and also take referrals from other parts of the UK and Ireland. Patients from Greater London can step down into the community-based Outreach Service following a period of in-patient treatment. The approach is psychotherapeutic and psychosocial, based on psychoanalytic and Therapeutic Community principles.


We provide a wide and flexible range of professional support and offer the following types of treatment:
- Psychosocial nursing in a living-learning environment
- Individual and/or group psychoanalytic psychotherapy
- Family and couple work
- Social work support
- Pharmacotherapy
- Psychosocial education
- Education and voluntary work
- Social, creative & physical activities
- Regular reviews of treatment.

The Inpatient Service is a non-restrictive, open environment and the Outreach Service is based on group work in the community. All patients are in treatment voluntarily and both nurses and patients work alongside each other with the core of the therapy being relational. Nurses at the Cassel are expected to be able to work in both services however rotation from one service to another are carefully planned as consistency for the patients is vital.


As a new joiner, you will continue with post-graduate education, autonomous practice as well as learning and growing as part of a unique, experienced and dynamic multi-disciplinary team.


We are seeking to recruit a Band 5 Nurse.
The requirement for the Band 5 post is:
- To have had experience as a student or in other disciplines of working with people who experience severe and complex personality disorder
- Willingness to undertake further training in the following specialities; Therapeutic Communities, Therapeutic Enabling Environments, Psychosocial Nursing, Psychodynamic Practice and/or Personality Disorders.


We will be holding a group assessment and individual interviews on the same day, as well being available for informal chats, and we will be in a position to inform you that you have been successful on the day.

Flu vaccination – what we expect from our staff


At West London we look after patients who are vulnerable. Each year, seasonal flu affects thousands of people in the UK. Occurring mainly in winter, it is an infectious respiratory disease capable of producing symptoms ranging from those similar to the common cold, through to the very severe or even fatal disease.

The wellbeing of our staff and patients is of the utmost importance to us, and it is the expectation of the Trust that all patient-facing staff have an annual flu vaccination, provided free of charge by the Trust

All staff identified as at-risk and who meet the requirements of the post will be prioritised accordingly.

We offer Relocation packages for some positions (including Band 5 and Band 6 Nurses) - a relocation allowance of up to £8000 is offered for those who meet a required criteria.

Registered Nurses are required to produce their current NMC Revalidation documents/Portfolio at the assessment centre for verification, unless you are a newly qualified nurse from University.
