The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust is one of the largest NHS Trusts in the West Midlands providing primary, acute and community services. We have been nationally recognised for providing excellence in healthcare; we are home to the busiest and most technologically advanced Cardiac Centre in the West Midlands. We have a strong research focus; the Trust hosts the Clinical Research Network West Midlands (CRN WM), which is part of the National Institute for Health Research, the clinical research delivery arm of the NHS. This alliance makes sure that clinical research occupies the place it deserves and is a driver to improve patient care.

We are looking for an efficient, motivated and competent personal assistant to provide full secretarial and administrative support to the directorate management team for the Children's, Young People and Sexual Health Group on a temporary basis to cover maternity leave. Working in a challenging and constantly changing environment, you will need to have excellent administrative, organisational, communication and interpersonal skills.

You will also need to possess the ability to multi task at a high level, pay close attention to detail and work on your own initiative. You will need to be able to demonstrate the skills required to manage the workload in a proactive and effective manner.

Duties will include a full range of administrative tasks, including:

  • managing electronic diaries
  • recording of staff annual and study leave
  • dealing with enquiries from staff, the public and patients
  • typing correspondence and reports
  • organising invites, booking venues, times and coordinating/collating papers for meetings
  • taking minutes
  • maintaining both a paper and electronic filing system
  • operating an effective bring forward and tracking system and monitoring actions
  • raising orders relevant to area

Word processing skills are essential, as is proficiency with Microsoft packages, particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

The post holder will primarily be based at New Cross Hospital, Wolverhampton. The successful candidate will provide a full PA service to the Group Manager and Directorate Manager for the Group, and will provide cross cover for the other Group PA during leave.
