We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, experienced, highly-driven and resilient leader to our Neurosciences Directorate. You should be hard working and dedicated to providing the best service possible for our patients.

The Atkinson Morley Regional Neurosciences Centre at St George’s is internationally renowned for neurology, neurosurgery, neurorehabilitation and stroke services. The hospital offers comprehensive services for the diagnosis, treatment and care of all conditions that affect the brain, spinal cord and the peripheral nervous system and muscles.

This post will be of interest to those who wish to pursue a career in hospital management and would like to gain more experience in a busy service with a wide variety of challenges. The post will provide extensive opportunity to build and develop skills required to move forward to a more senior role.

We are looking for someone with good experience of operational and staff management, ideally within the NHS, who is enthusiastic and willing to take on the challenge. You will need to have excellent communication skills and be able to demonstrate that you can lead and motivate a team. You will need to liaise with patients of all ages, clinicians at all levels and managers within the Trust. Time management and organisation skills are also essential as you will need to balance the demands of a very busy workload.

As an Assistant Service Manager, your main responsibilities will include:

Supporting the Service Manager with operational, administrative, modernisation and business issues.
Line management responsibility for designated staff and to work closely with other members of the management team.
To be high profile and visible, co-ordinating the smooth running of the patient pathway and ensuring a patient-focused delivery.
To assist in the development of the Neurosciences Directorate in conjunction with other team members.
To support the achievement of all targets and objectives within the department and Trust.
To be an ambassador for the Neurosciences Directorate across the organisation and externally.
