Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) is one of the largest acute Trusts in the UK, employing over 25,000 staff.

We are responsible for running a family of ten hospitals across seven separate sites, providing a wide range of services from comprehensive local general hospital care through to highly specialised regional and national services.

We are the main provider of hospital care to approximately 750,000 people in Manchester and Trafford and the single biggest provider of specialised services in the North West of England. We are also the lead provider for a significant number of specialised services including Breast Care, Vascular, Cardiac, Respiratory, Urology Cancer, Paediatrics, Women’s Services, Ophthalmology and Genomic Medicine.

Our vision is to improve the health and quality of life of our diverse population by building an organisation that:

  • Excels in quality, safety, patient experience, research, innovation and teaching
  • Attracts, develops and retains great people
  • Is recognised internationally as a leading healthcare provider.

We are looking for a full-time locum consultant (10 PA) in paediatric and adolescent rheumatology to join our friendly, expanding rheumatology department at Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital (RMCH). Applicants with full specialist accreditation in paediatric rheumatology or SPIN accreditation in paediatric rheumatology with recent relevant experience in a tertiary rheumatology centre are encouraged to apply.

This post is in addition to existing consultant posts. It is expected that the new consultant will take some current patients for follow up and take on new patients from inpatient and outpatient referrals. This post will also support the development of a clinical network to enable shared care arrangements for individual children and young people across Greater Manchester with local general paediatricians.

Cross-cover arrangements are in place to cover patients during times of leave. It is expected that the post holder will work closely with consultant colleagues to ensure clear handover and continuity of care for all patients and that time off during non-hot weeks will be taken flexibly to ensure the department is fully covered at all times.

There is a Tier 1 SHO and SpR covering rheumatology patients when on call.
