A fantastic opportunity has arisen for Advanced Clinical Practitioner to join our Urgent Care Team at Newark Hospital, part of Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS. This role is open to experienced and qualified practitioners.

Newark UCC sees an average of 26,000 patients a year ranging from Minor Injuries to acute presentations. A significant portion of the workload is Primary Care related.

We are looking for an Advanced Clinical Practitioner to join our team. This is a new and exciting opportunity to be a part of a major Service Development for the Department and the Trust as the UCC move forward with new and different ways of providing a service for the local area.

We expect to recruit positive, forward thinking individuals who are motivated and can motivate others, work under pressure and manage the needs of a wide variety of attendances. This post provides an exciting opportunity for the experienced professional who is passionate about Urgent Care, with experience of dealing with Minor Injuries, Minor Illness and management of Acute presentations.

This role is for both Adult and Paediatric presentations to the UCC. As a registered professional, with a Masters in Advanced Clinical Practice you must be able to demonstrate significant clinical experience. You will need to be highly motivated and be prepared to continue to develop your expertise. Your role will involve assessment, treatment and management of a diverse undifferentiated caseload of patients requiring urgent care. With this you will need excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of the wider Newark and Kings Mill teams

The post will involve day and night duties rotating with the Medical Staff and other Advanced Clinical Practitioners to provide a 24/7 clinical service in the UTC. The department also runs a Emergency Nurse Practitioner service 12 hours a day 7 days a week providing Minor Injuries and some Minor Illness management of patients. It is envisioned the successful candidate will operate in conjunction with the ENP service and with the support of the UCC Registered Nursing team.

Clinical supervision, teaching, training and on-going development will be available primarily from the Emergency Department/Urgent and Emergency Care Division at Kings Mill Hospital. Rotation between Newark UCC and KMH ED sites to maintain skills and professional development is envisioned.

The successful applicant must:

  • Have considerable, demonstrable experience in an emergency care setting
  • Be clinically competent to manage Adult and Paediatric presentations across the spectrum of illness to injury.
  • Hold an MSc qualification in Advanced Clinical Practice including anon-medical prescribing qualification.
  • Hold a teaching qualification
  • Hold relevant qualifications in Minor Illness and Minor Injuries.
  • Be an ALS and EPALS provider and hold a relevant Trauma Qualification. The UEC Division has recently been rated as outstanding for ‘well lead’ in a recent CQC visit. The department is closely linked to KMH ED which has a full complement of Emergency Department Consultants and will provide the successful candidate with access to a clearly defined mentor/supervisor and support continuing professional development through yearly appraisal. If you have the experience and motivation to be part of the future of a new clinical service and staffing group in a busy and forward thinking UCC then we are waiting to hear from you.
