About Us and the post

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and proactive individual to become part of the Critical Care team based on our busy Cardiothoracic and ECMO Unit at The Royal Brompton Hospital. With mentor support, the ACCP will integrate into the existing Critical Care team to carry out extended roles within the Critical Care unit which will include; initial assessment, management and care of level 1-3 patients, including practical procedures. They will act as a highly specialised role model and leader for all members of staff, and play a major role in the continuous development of the services within the Trust and as a potential member of a range of trust quality/process improvement project groups.

This unit cares for patients with both cardiac and respiratory illness including extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) and the dynamic nature of our work makes it a very stimulating and exciting place to work. The Trust’s respiratory ECMO services have been praised internationally and recently received a ‘platinum award’ as a centre of excellence. In return you will benefit from excellent training and development opportunities, and superb support from within our encouraging environment.

They will require a degree level qualification as they will be expected to complete a Post graduate Diploma or Master’s Degree by a High Education Institution (HEI) accredited institution and will receive funding and study time accordingly.

Within this ever changing and evolving environment we are looking to recruit dynamic and enthusiastic staff members who will work well as part of the multi-disciplinary team while engaging with and driving forward this new role within this clinical setting. The successful applicants focus will be channelled towards quality, patient centred, clinically driven, flexibility, valuing people, promoting lifelong learning and being locally led.
