Do you enjoy a challenge and being creative? Are you passionate about improving the wellbeing of people living with dementia? Would you value working as part of an established team in an acute hospital?

This is a unique and exciting opportunity for anyone who is passionate about supporting people with dementia, and is creative in finding ways to do this in an acute hospital ward. The Meaningful Activities Service support people with dementia to be involved in activities that they enjoy to help their general wellbeing, keep up their usual daily routine, and maintain their identity. You will be required to engage with a person in a wide variety of activities, which may include reminiscence, games through to arts and crafts. You will also support a person living with dementia during clinical tasks including personal care and assistance with nutrition and hydration based on their individual needs.

We need a person who communicates easily and sensitively with people with dementia and their families. We are committed to maintaining a person's connection to their loved ones during an admission and ensuring that clinical teams have all the information they need to support a person living with dementia.

You should be someone who has initiative, who can organise your workload and time, and work independently. You will need to have experience of working with people with dementia and/or experience of providing activities for individuals or groups. You will be provided with training relevant to the post.

This is a rotational post, which provides the opportunity to work in a variety of clinical settings across University Hospitals of Leicester, including older people’s wards, Emergency Department, Acute Admissions wards, and other areas.

Hours of work: Day, evening, weekend working and Bank Holiday, to include a variety of long and short shifts.
