We’re looking for Switchboard Operators

The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust is located in Harlow, Essex and is a501 bedded District General Hospital providing a comprehensive range of safe and reliable acute and specialist services to a local population of 258,000 people. We arecommitted to the core principles of the NHS which are to provide services thatmeet the health needs of everyone and are free at the point of delivery.

We have opportunities on an ad-hoc basis for a switchboard operator based at Princess Alexandra Hospital, Harlow.

Responsibilities will cover a number of areas such as;

  • Answer internal and external calls, as well as GP referrals and emergency calls
  • Put out crash calls fast and effectively being clear on the location and the call
  • Take and log major incidents at Stansted airport etc.
  • Deal with fire, gas and boiler alarms as well as panic alarms.
  • Other duties your line manager may ask you to undertake.

This role is on an ad-hoc basis, Monday to Sunday with the ability to book shifts that suit you. Shifts that’ll be on offer are:

  • 07:00 – 14:00
  • 09:30 – 17:30
  • 11:00 – 19:00
  • 14:00 – 21:30
  • 21:30 – 07:00

The hourly rate will depend on the day and shift booked.

Do you have the following skills …?

  • Excellent telephone manner
  • Good written and spoken level of English (spelling test will be required)
  • Previous experience working in a call centre or similar environment would be desirable
  • Sympathetic approach due to nature of calls
  • Flexible approach
  • Must work well in a team
