An exciting opportunity has arisen for you to explore your potential with one of the most innovative Procurement teams in the NHS

At Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust, we are part of the most important integrated health and social care transformation ever attempted in the UK, which has brought our nine hospitals together, soon to be ten with North Manchester General Hospital due to become part of the Trust on 1st April 2021, to deliver a Single Hospital Service that is both sustainable and high-functioning, a large population to care for, it is of vital importance that we create a cost-effective and efficient service that can accommodate the needs of this generation and the next, and as such, we are challenging ourselves to find better ways of working. A crucial element of this mission stems from our procurement processes – and it is here that we need your input.

Joining our team in the Finance and Procurement Business Unit – a space that has been created to encourage flexible working, with state of the art modern facilities that will make your life more rewarding – We have two roles available, in one you will provide a valuable level of support to senior colleagues as you contribute to a designated Hospital Group / Managed Clinical Service or Category Purchasing portfolio and take on individual projects.. Occasional visits to the office and Trust sites will be required. From seeking out savings that will contribute to performance targets, to providing data analysis that will enable better procurement decisions to be made, you will take on a wide range of duties and no two days will be the same. This may include mini tender processes, negotiating with suppliers and identifying new business opportunities. There is a broad array of variety and responsibility in this role, so you will thrive in our team if you have the ability to see a challenge through to completion, enabling purchasing projects to be delivered on time and within budget.

The other roles sits within our Capital/Operational Team where you will manage a team with a range of responsibilities from purchasing key medical equipment, equipping new wards to ensuring we are getting best value for money on our maintenance. The Trust has many upcoming transformational projects coming up including redevelopment of A&E and redevelopment of the North Manchester General Hospital site and you will play a key role in ensuring the success of these projects by delivering effective capital procurement.

Please specify in the Supporting information section of the application which role you are interested in or if you wish to be considered for both positions.

It will require someone with a wide range of skills and attention to detail but a role which allows you to see the clear benefits of the work in the transformational projects you will work on.

Currently these roles will be predominantly home based, with IT equipment provided and a full support package in these challenging times

As you will need to take responsibility for procedural compliance and team leadership, you will need to have substantial strategic purchasing experience within a private or public sector organisation. Committed to achieving full membership of the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS), it would be beneficial (though isn’t strictly necessary) to have some knowledge of clinical product procurement or capital equipment procurement within the NHS. Crucially, you will have exceptional communication and partnership skills, with the capacity to work directly with clinical stakeholders and procurement and supply chain colleagues. You will also be highly organised, and you will be adept at using PowerPoint to support your presentations.

We’re determined to provide our local people with a level of medical excellence that matches their varied needs.
