Job Title – Staff Nurse
Base – Woodlands Unit, Queen Mary's Hospital
Hours per week – 37.5 full time
We are looking for high calibre, motivated and enthusiastic Registered Mental Health Nurses/ Registered Learning Disability Nurses to join our fast paced and innovative team.
The Woodlands Unit is a mental health hospital with two Working Age Acute wards situated on the first floor. Each ward is a 20 bedded ward, that aims to assist those experiencing an acute mental health crisis achieve their own personal recovery.
A vacancy has arisen for a Mental Health Nurse to join our Multi-disciplinary team. We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated individual who has a good understanding, and are committed to the principles of recovery and social inclusion.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the smooth running of the ward over a 24 hour shift pattern, acting as shift co-ordinator to ensure effective use of resources. Individually you will also have responsibility as a primary nurse for up to a max of 4 patients at any one time, delivering all aspects of care from assessment, admission, up to and including organising discharge into the community. The ability to communicate well with a range of agencies is a distinct advantage. You will also be expected to have good understanding of risk assessment.
The South London Mental Health and Community Partnership (SLP), is comprising of Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust, South London and Maudsley, and South West London and St George’s trust.
Together the Trusts work on a range of focussed, specialist programmes to improve patient care, experience and outcomes for mental health patients across south London’s 3.6 million population. We bring shared clinical expertise, knowledge and best practice together where we can make a difference by working at scale and provide best use of resources. Our aims include to deliver care closer to home, with increased local community services and innovative, evidence-driven specialist support and clinical interventions.
