Band 6 Public Health Nurse - Looked After Children

We are currently recruiting for a full time post for the Looked After Children's nursing team to support our Looked After Child Programme. This is a great opportunity to support and assess the needs of vulnerable children across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.

You will work with children and young people within the local authority in conjunction with families and care givers, to maximise their health potential and address their health inequalities. You will support and line manage band 5 nurses within the team, who assess the health of these children and young people and implement any necessary care pathways.

As the ideal candidate you would need to be able to demonstrate strong leadership skills and the desire to improve the quality of our service delivery, working closely in partnership with our multi disciplinary colleagues.

You will be responsible for attending or contributing to safeguarding meetings, case conferences, Looked After Children’s reviews, pathway planning meetings, professional meetings and strategy meetings, to support the delivery of needs for this group of children through the effective management of your caseload .

You must have previous safeguarding experience. The ability to work on your own initiative demonstrating a well organised and flexible approach to the management of change and conflicting priorities is key to success within this role. For areas where our teams work to staffing rosters, rosters are set in advance at a team level and you will be joining an established roster. Your rostered shifts will be confirmed to you when arranging your start date. We will consider requests to vary working patterns in line with our flexible working policy.

For all substantive roles the appointment of every new member of staff (excluding medical and dental staff) to a post is subject to a 6 month probationary period, details of which are in our Probation Policy.
