Patient Companion Band 2

Six month fixed term contracts or flexible working on our Staff Bank – temporary staffing contracts available.

2020 has been a year like no other in the NHS, and at Ashford and St Peter’s we are working hard to serve our local communities during this next stage of the pandemic as well as continuing to restore and recover essential services.

Our Nursing Teams have been at the centre of supporting our patients during this challenging time and as we head into potentially the toughest winter the NHS has faced we have developed a new role to ensure our patients remain at the heart of ASPH.

The Patient Companion role will include providing family liaison support, close observation of patients requiring one to one care, assist with nutrition and hydration and undertake therapeutic recreational activities.

Other roles and responsibilities include managing patient’s property, maintaining a clean and safe environment, aiding some aspects of basic patient care and escorting patients to different departments.

The role will form part of the safer care staffing team and will require being adaptable and flexible in supporting different areas around the Trust including adult ward based areas, the Emergency Department and potentially the paediatric inpatient ward.

This opportunity is open to those looking for their first role in health care having completed full time education or anyone seeking a change of career.

Evidence of previous care experience is not required; however excellent communication skills and a compassionate and caring nature are essential.

Full time is based on 37.5 hours per week working on an internal rotation of shifts including days, nights, weekends and bank holidays.

You will undertake a comprehensive induction and training programme prior to joining. There are excellent development opportunities leading to a successful career within the NHS, including a dedicated career pathway transiting to a health care assistant role which can even lead onto becoming a Registered Nursing Associate or Registered Nurse.

Interviews and assessments will take place end of November/beginning of December with the aim of starting in January 2021.

If you think that you have what it takes to work in an organisation where we live our values then please come and join us at Team ASPH!

Tier 2 Certificate of Sponsorship

Applications from job seekers who require current Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. However, non-EEA candidates may not be appointed to a post if a suitably qualified, experienced and skilled EU/EEA candidate is available to take up the post as the employing body is unlikely, in these circumstances, to satisfy the current Resident Labour Market Test which will be in place until the end of December 2020. UK Visas and Immigration requires employers to complete this test to show that no suitably qualified EEA or EU worker can fill the post. For further information please visit the UK Visas and Immigration website.

From 6 April 2017, Tier 2 skilled worker applicants, applying for entry clearance into the UK, have had to present a criminal record certificate from each country they have resided continuously or cumulatively for 12 months or more in the past 10 years. Adult dependants (over 18 years old) are also subject to this requirement.
