An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic person to join our established Upper GI team. The role of Clinical nurse specialist offers the post holder the opportunity to develop and enhance their skills in the field of Upper GI.

This exciting position will allow the possibility of career development and role progression. We are looking for a Band 6 nurse who is an enthusiastic, flexible candidate; willing to develop an in-depth knowledge of Upper GI and bariatrics. The post holder will be passionate about the management and treatment of Upper Gastrointestinal and bariatric patients.

The role requires implementation of personalised care, supporting patients to fulfill their goals in health and well being while guiding them through their treatment journey. You will be involved in assisting in both pre and post-operative management while also providing care in face to face environments and group settings.

The post holder will be a first level registered nurse with evidence of post registration experience and professional development. The nursing care is delivered through nurse-led clinics, telephone follow up and support during their Upper GI pathway.

Successful applicants will require excellent communication, and holistic assessment skills, as well as a keen interest in Upper GI and bariatrics. Previous experience in Upper GI nursing is advantageous, as would familiarity with the running of nurse-led clinics. To ensure a patient centred service is offered, the ability to work across site and on some evenings and Saturdays is also crucial

The successful candidate will be an integral part of a Multi-disciplinary team and will need to be adaptable and personable and be confidant to express their opinion. The ability to work as part of a team but also be an independent worker, is crucial to the role.

Essential Criteria:

  • 1st Level live NMC required Registered Nurse
  • Registered Mentor
  • PP126/127 } or equivalent
  • D32/33
  • Diploma/Degree

You will have regular supervision, and an annual appraisal with learning opportunities. Induction, training and on-going development will be supported.
