The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust provides a full range of district hospital services to our local community and surrounding area. These include emergency department services, outpatient clinics, inpatient services and maternity and children’s services. We are in an exciting period of our development and are playing a full role within the South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw Integrated Care System.

The Director of Finance is an Executive member of the Board and is responsible for working with fellow members in developing and promoting the Trust’s vision, values, aims and strategic objectives. Working to the Chief Executive and along with other members of the Board, the Director is responsible for our financial strategy, which is an integral part of our ability to deliver high quality, affordable healthcare. The strategy will include developing and overseeing the organisation’s financial governance, risk and compliance arrangements, and ensuring robust stewardship of funds and that the Trust meets its statutory obligations and financial targets. The key responsibilities are providing professional advice to the Board and Council of Governors and ensuring financial resources are used to best effect in delivering high quality health services for patients.

We are looking for considerable experience of working at Board level within a complex organisation, including experience of dealing with senior external stakeholders and regulators, and strong understanding of NHS finance regimes and systems. You will need to be an excellent communicator, someone who can demonstrate and uphold the Trust’s values; you will need sound judgement, discretion, influencing skills and the ability to maintain confidence and establish highly effective relationships among a range of internal and external stakeholders.

The cost of undertaking a DBS disclosure will be met by the individual. The Trust will meet the initial costs of the disclosure, and you can choose to have this deducted from either your first month’s salary or in instalments over your first 3 months’ salary. The current price of a standard check is £23 and an enhanced check is £40.

New starters to the NHS will start at the bottom of the advertised salary band.
