‘I am confident that I can spend as much time with a patient that is necessary’

Rowcroft Hospice is an independent charity that provides comfort, support and specialist care to over 2,000 patients and their loved ones across South Devon each year.  Our Vision is to make every day the best it can be for all patients, and their families, living with life-limiting illnesses in South Devon.

We are recruiting SHCAs to our expanding Hospice at Home team in order for us to be able to provide care for more patients and families.

The SHCA posts are primarily day shifts and provide care in patients homes giving emotional and practical support. Our SHCAs are able to spend long periods of time with the patient and family so really get to know the issues and help to provide the solutions.

Whilst our focus is the patient who wishes to die at home, we provide support and advice to the whole family, giving an opportunity to deliver holistic care to the whole household. The hospice at home team visited 440 patients at home last year, they provided symptom control, emotional, psychological and spiritual support whilst also providing hands on care.

The successful candidates would need to have significant experience in caring and have a QCF level 3 in Health and Social Care or the equivalent and be passionate about providing good quality palliative care to people in their own homes. They would need to have excellent communication skills, work well on their own but also work within a very supportive team.

The postholders would be working shifts to cover 7 days a week.

For an informal discussion, please contact Karenne Weaver (Hospice at Manager) on 01803 217638 or Victoria Bartlett (Deputy Director of Patient Care) on 01803 217428.

Tier 2 Certificate of Sponsorship

Applications from job seekers who require current Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. However, non-EEA candidates may not be appointed to a post if a suitably qualified, experienced and skilled EU/EEA candidate is available to take up the post as the employing body is unlikely, in these circumstances, to satisfy the current Resident Labour Market Test which will be in place until the end of December 2020. UK Visas and Immigration requires employers to complete this test to show that no suitably qualified EEA or EU worker can fill the post. For further information please visit the UK Visas and Immigration website.

From 6 April 2017, Tier 2 skilled worker applicants, applying for entry clearance into the UK, have had to present a criminal record certificate from each country they have resided continuously or cumulatively for 12 months or more in the past 10 years. Adult dependants (over 18 years old) are also subject to this requirement.
