Specialist Clinical Pharmacy Technician – Antimicrobial Stewardship

We have an exciting opportunity for a specialist pharmacy technician to join our team in this clinical post. We are looking for an aspirational and motivated technician who has a wide experience in hospital clinical pharmacy services as a Medicine Management technician. You will help develop and deliver the Trust’s Antimicrobial stewardship program alongside our Antimicrobial pharmacist.

The role will include attending Antimicrobial Stewardship ward rounds each week to assist the Antimicrobial pharmacist and the Infectious diseases/ Microbiology Consultants in delivering the AMS agenda for the Trust You will act as the key link between the pharmacy team and the Trust’s microbiology and infectious diseases departments. For 50% of the time you will contribute to a dedicated pharmacy service with Sheffield Children’s hospital by participating in and contributing to the ward-based Medicines Management service as required. The successful candidate will have a broad experience of hospital pharmacy services, excellent communication and organisational skills and a desire to improve patient’s quality of care Paediatric experience would be desirable but is not essential as you will be supported through our comprehensive in-house training program. It is essential that you have a worked as an MMT in secondary care and you have an accredited accuracy checking qualification (see person specification for essential requirements) The post will be based at Sheffield Children’s hospital which is one of only four independent specialist paediatric hospitals in the country. We provide dedicated healthcare for children and young people, including highly specialised health care such as neurosurgery, oncology, endocrinology, specialist orthopaedics, neonatal surgery, metabolic disease, gastroenterology, respiratory diseases, intensive care, cystic fibrosis and neurology. Our aim is to be at the forefront of best practice in delivering high quality and integrated care to children and young people.

You will join a pharmacy department with over 60 staff. You will be expected to participate in the full range of services provided by the pharmacy including clinical ward service, dispensary services. Candidates will be expected to participate in the department’s weekend & Bank Holiday rotas.

In line with other NHS Organisations in the Yorkshire and Humber Region a successful candidate appointed into a post within this Trust will be required to pay the DBS check fee (£45). This is customarily payable over 4 months as a salary deduction once employed by the Trust. If you receive a conditional offer letter, complete your DBS application and later withdraw from the recruitment process, an invoice will be raised via the Trust's finance department to recoup the outlay.
