We really value our Healthcare Support Workers who play an essential role in supporting the delivery of the highest standard of quality care to our patients.

We have full time (3 long shifts per week) opportunities in the Division of Medicine including ED, MAU respiratory etc., for caring and compassionate healthcare professionals, with the ability to work with others in a busy, pressurised team environment. Flexibility is essential as you will be expected to work to a varied shift pattern to provide 24 hour cover, 7 days a week. You will be expected to work long days, nights, weekends and bank holidays on a flexible shift pattern.

If you are interested in a career as a Healthcare Support Worker, we can offer you a fixed term Apprenticeship contract for a period of 14 months/20 months dependant on your educational requirements. The apprenticeship will consist of 4 elements: initial assessment, Functional Skills (maths and English), job specific training (both in the workplace and off the job) culminating in an End Point Assessment of which you will be fully prepared. We want all our Healthcare Support Workers to become successful, competent and confident carers so we are committed to ensuring the ongoing development through a number of additional apprenticeship programmes thereafter; the opportunity to develop within University Hospitals Bristol and Weston starts here.

Once you have successfully completed all of the components of the apprenticeship within the agreed timescale, you will be considered for a permanent Experienced Nurse Assistant position, and your salary will rise to £18,005 per annum, pro rata.

You must be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and have excellent interpersonal skills. You will be hard-working, with strong organisational skills and be willing to deliver excellent care directly to our patients, making a real difference to their stay in hospital.

Experience is not essential, but experience of working in a care setting will support your application.
