We provide out of hours (OOH) primary care and Extended Access appointments to the population of Cumbria (500,000 people over a land mass of 2,613 square miles), working out of 12 clinical sites. Our core bases are:

  • Kendal
  • Barrow
  • Whitehaven
  • Carlisle
  • Penrith
  • Wigton

The Cumbria Health Extended Access (CHEA) service has been developed to provide additional Routine General Practice appointments on evenings and weekends, for the population of Cumbria.

We are looking for Health Care Assistants to join our clinical team. You will carry out a range of duties in caring for patients including providing treatment, preventative care, screening and patient education. You will also carry out the necessary supporting administrative duties e.g. record keeping and monitoring equipment levels. You must be able to carry out Venepuncture, ECG recording, urinalysis and basic patient health checks/observations.

Only those meeting the essential criteria of the personal specification will be shortlisted.

The role is based at Furness General Hospital in Barrow but there will also be shifts avaialble at the Westmorland hopsital in Kendal and out of the CHoC bases in Ambleside and Grange.
