Senior Specialist Speech & Language Therapist supporting children with severe learning disabilities and complex needs in Woolley Wood specialist school

Band 7


4 sessions (15 hours a week) temporary to cover maternity leave.




We are looking for a highly experienced Speech & Language Therapist to cover a maternity leave.


This post is 15 hours a week (0.4WTE ) to support the communication and feeding of children with severe learning disabilities and highly complex needs in Woolley Wood specialist school. Home visits may be required but the work is mainly school based


The successful candidate will have substantial experience of working with children with severe learning disabilities/ complex needs including supporting both communication and feeding

They will be able to demonstrate excellent joint working skills and the ability to work flexibly and problem-solve at a high level.

The post consists of a significant amount of collaborative working with educational staff and other health care professionals.


Sheffield Speech & Language Therapy operates on a city wide basis. It is committed to providing a high quality service and offers excellent opportunities for development. All therapists are required to undertake supervision and a programme of continuous professional development, which forms part of the individual performance review system.

Applicants will be registered with the HCPC and Royal College of Speech & Language Therapists (UK). Due to the nature of the post, applicants must be car drivers and have access to their own vehicle.

In line with other NHS Organisations in the Yorkshire and Humber Region a successful candidate appointed into a post within this Trust will be required to pay the DBS check fee (£45). This is customarily payable over 4 months as a salary deduction once employed by the Trust. If you receive a conditional offer letter, complete your DBS application and later withdraw from the recruitment process, an invoice will be raised via the Trust's finance department to recoup the outlay.
