An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic, motivated and experienced individual to work within a team of 7 Senior Sisters providing direction and inspirational leadership to the nursing and multi-disciplinary team within our Intensive Care Unit.

The Leicester Royal Infirmary is a busy 19 bedded Unit with plans to expand. The Unit accepts patients from a range of elective surgical specialities and emergencies from across the hospital and the Emergency Department located here at the Royal.

The post holder will be accountable and responsible for ICU, visible, accessible and responsive to the needs of service users, patients, carers and the public.

The post holder will be an expert clinical practitioner, be required to work shifts, and be an enthusiastic integral member of our well established and committed team, with over 130 members of nursing and clerical staff, providing and supervising the delivery of excellent quality care.

Wider responsibilities include the provision of a supportive learning environment for continuing education; reporting to the Matron and supporting the wider organisation; reduction of risk; carrying out audits; managing resources and information; and co-ordinating elective and emergency activity and the provision of care within the Intensive Care Service at UHL.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of working in this environment and should ideally have 3 years’ experience at working at Band 6 level.

A period of supervision and structured training and support will be available and we can offer a wide range of development opportunities.

Flexible working patterns will be considered.
