New Autism Service

We are rapidly expanding our Transforming Care Programme offer to the people of Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland and now have the fabulous opportunity to create two new services; our Autism Service to support 14 to 25 year olds following their diagnosis, and our Learning Disability Forensic Service for adults.

Transforming Care is a national programme which aims to improve the lives of children, young people and adults with a learning disability and/or autism who display behaviours that challenge, including those with a mental health condition. Members of both teams will be joining an ambitious and energetic multiagency community of practitioners dedicated to the Transforming Care agenda and to improving local services. Post holder will need to have the skills and character to consistently deliver high quality care, advocate effectively for the best interests of our service users, and work creatively at pace with colleagues, carers and our service users’ relatives.

The successful applicant will be central to the development of these new and exciting services for our local population; supporting our service users to live happy and fulfilling lives in the community and, if a stay in hospital is required, making sure that they are discharged back into the community promptly and safely.

We are an ambitious and innovative team with an active interest in learning and a determination to reduce inequality and improve the quality and accessibility of the services we support. Your commitment to supporting our service users and your ability to meet the requirements of the job description will be evident in your application, but through the recruitment process you will also show us your appreciation of their needs and your track record of improving care.

LPT offer 2 car schemes vehicle leasing and car salary sacrifice subject to meeting the acceptance criteria. If you already lease a vehicle through the NHS it may be possible to transfer the lease to LPT if successful at interview.

An open forum question and answer session will be held on the 14th of October between 2pm and 3pm. If you would like to join that session please email gayatri.chauhan@leicspart.nhs.uk identifying the role/s you are considering.

Interviews will take place during the week of 26th October.

We are committed to providing the best care that we can to our patients, and so some of our roles involve a Maths and English assessment. Where this is so, details will be shared with you as part of the recruitment process.

Details of our benefits, pledge and other important information about the application process, and working for us is contained in the documents linked to our advert.

For areas where our teams work to staffing rosters, rosters are set in advance at a team level and you will be joining an established roster. Your rostered shifts will be confirmed to you when arranging your start date. We will consider requests to vary working patterns in line with our flexible working policy.

To make the most of your application, we may consider successful applicants for vacancies for the same post in different locations where this is appropriate and meets our mutual requirements.

For all substantive roles the appointment of every new member of staff (excluding medical and dental staff) to a post is subject to a 6 month probationary period, details of which are in our Probation Policy.

We aim to develop a workforce that reflects our service users. To this end we actively implement equal opportunities in employment and service delivery and seek people who share our commitment. We strongly encourage applications from all sections of the community, particularly from underrepresented groups, including members of our black and minority ethnic communities. All jobs will require permission to work in the UK.

For all jobs the cost of undertaking a DBS disclosure at the required level will be met by the individual. This will be deducted from salary following commencement.

Requests from applicants to work alternative hours to those advertised may be considered.

Applicants who are currently ‘at risk’ within the local NHS, and meeting essential criteria will be given preference for interview over any other candidates who may apply for this post.
