Time to Talk is nationally recognised as a high-performing IAPT service, with a reputation for clinical excellence, innovation and collaborative working with secondary care and voluntary services. We provide a range of NICE compliant psychological therapies for people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties, and achieve excellent recovery outcomes for our patients. We have good staff retention and aim to grow inclusive staff teams, where diversity is valued and the workforce reflects the communities served.

We are now seeking to recruit to two newly created Deputy Clinical Lead posts: this post is based in Chichester. This is an exciting opportunity to join our leadership team at a time of significant growth and expansion, as the service delivers on the commitments of the NHS Long Term Plan (2019). The plan sets out an ambitious path to transform the nation’s physical and mental health over the next decade, representing vital progress towards parity of esteem between mental and physical health.

The Deputy Clinical Lead will work closely with the Clinical Lead, and they will hold responsibility for the clinical quality and performance of their teams. With extensive experience of working in IAPT services, the Deputy Clinical Lead will oversee the delivery of high quality, NICE evidence-based psychological therapies and clinical supervision, ensuring staff achieve competencies and accreditation as described in the IAPT Manual (National Collaborating Centre for Mental Health, V.4, 2020).

There will be scope within the role for the post holder to initiate service improvements and influence the development of the service, through consultation with the senior team and audit, research and service evaluation projects.

Time to Talk’s multidisciplinary teams consist of CBT Therapists, Counsellors, Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners, Administrators, Managers and Employment Advisors. We are commissioned to provide services from 8am to 8pm and all staff are required to contribute 7.5 hours of cover over this daily time frame.

As part of our supportive professional development framework, the Deputy Clinical Lead will have access to the Trust’s Allied Psychology Forum, which offers professional support and CPD events, networking with a range of psychological practitioners across the Trust.

In response to the recent challenge of COVID-19 we have quickly adapted our service to enable the continued provision of psychological therapies via video platforms and telephone working. Staff have been equipped with laptops and mobile phones, enabling effective home working. As the situation evolves and we return to working from bases we plan to move to a blended way of working, keeping the innovations that have worked well. We envisage staff working one or two days a week from home as part of these new ways of working, although the post holder will still need to be willing and able to travel throughout West Sussex as required and have a high level of visibility.

The interviews are provisionally scheduled to be held on Friday 30 October.
