The positions are based in the East Midlands Congenital Heart Centre.

We are delighted to offer an opportunity for a highly motivated, ambitious individual to join our Paediatric Cardiac Specialist Nursing team based at the Glenfield Hospital.

As a Paediatric Cardiac Specialist Nurse you will care for children in inpatient and outpatient settings and also support their management at home. You will provide practical advice and support for children and their families, and have the opportunity to further develop your own knowledge and skills in this specialist area. You will contribute to existing practices such as multi-disciplinary clinics, transitional care and education programmes.

All Specialist Nurses work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to ensure best outcomes for children with a wide range of cardiac conditions. You will need excellent communication skills to enable you to effectively engage in face to face consultations as well as telephone advice for both families and professionals. You will have the vision to further develop services to improve the care for children and young people within the East Midlands Congenital Heart Network.

You will also have direct involvement to shape the future delivery and organization of East Midlands Congenital Heart Centre. Paediatric cardiac services as will co-locate to our new facility in April 2021 which is based at the Leicester Royal Infirmary with the Childrens Hospital.

If you are a Registered Children’s Nurse, have previous experience in caring paediatric cardiac patients and wish to develop your skills further. You will need to demonstrate experience in supporting families and the ability to work independently, taking ownership and responsibility for your work.
