Research

We are one of the most research-active organisations for our size in the UK, recruiting more patients to trials than most others in the country (1,062 in 18/19). We are also now recognised as one of the fastest trusts in the country from set up to recruitment.

We are looking for enthusiastic Radiologists to join our team and we would be interested in candidates with experience of the Clinical Lead role. We are a friendly and cohesive department with a range of specialist interests, committed to working together to the benefit of the patients and department, with very short turnaround times and short waiting times. We are an innovative group of Consultants always looking to expand and develop services.

You will be expected to undertake general radiology duties but we welcome and encourage the development of specialist interests. The radiology department currently performs approximately 150,000 investigations a year, including the reporting of plain films for the North Cambridgeshire Hospital in Wisbech and James Paget Hospital in Great Yarmouth. We provide outreach Ultrasound services in both Wisbech and Swaffham. Reporting of CT examinations out-of-hours is outsourced to Everlight Radiology.

We have 2 Registrars from the Norwich Radiology Academy and teach medical students both from Norwich and Cambridge.

We have a well equipped department with 2 Philips 64 slice CT scanners, 3 new Hitachi Ultrasound rooms, 1 Philips DR room, and 3 carestream DR rooms. We also have a Toshiba interventional / screening suite, a GE Gamma camera and 2 GE 450 and 360 MRI scanners. We provide screening and symptomatic Breast imaging services to our local population, within a new purpose built breast unit. New Agfa RIS/PACS system due to be installed in first half of 2021.
