In 2002 Inclusion was created as part of the award winning South Staffordshire & Shropshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, now known as Midlands Partnership Foundation NHS Trust. Successful in its endeavors, Inclusion has grown to provide drug and alcohol and sexual health, mental health services in the community, and prisons. Employing over 750 staff, including Psychiatrists, Counsellors, Doctors, Nurses, Social Workers, Allied Health Professionals,Therapists, Drug & Alcohol Recovery Workers, Peer Mentors and Volunteers. We provide services to in excess of 19,000 services users per annum across the South East, Midlands, East of England and North of England.

Are you passionate and committed to working in a prison environment to meet the needs of service users in prison with mental health and substance misuse needs?

If so we have an exciting career opportunity available at HMP Featherstone/HMYOI Brinsford.

We currently have a vacancy for a Band 6 Social Worker, this is a split post working between HMP Featherstone and HMYOI Brinsford.

The post holder will be a qualified social worker. The Service currently consists of a multi-disciplinary team of mental health professionals. The post holder will work in close collaboration with the team leader and wider multi-disciplinary team in order to deliver comprehensive assessment and care coordination under the framework of the Care Programme Approach. As a qualified social worker, you will be expected to provide a clear social work perspective to ongoing assessments and care delivery, with a specific focus upon release planning to ensure continuity of care in the community. This will involve close inter agency working across the Statutory and Voluntary sectors. In addition, there are opportunities to develop and deliver group work, service user forums and to shape ongoing service development.

Applicants are expected to have a range of knowledge and experience of working with clients with a variety of Mental Health needs across the Stepped Care pathway from low level needs to patients with a diagnosis of severe and enduring illness.

At both prisons the service is integrated with the Psychosocial Substance Misuse Pathway which provides the opportunity to work alongside a multi-disciplinary team which includes Psychosocial Drug Recovery Workers, Occupational Therapy, Social Work, Psychiatry, Mental Health Nurses and Psychology. This allows for easier access to joint working amongst professionals with the client group and access to both peer and formal training in different areas. This is particularly important when supporting the Duel Diagnosis Pathway.

Applicants will have the ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team. The role will include liaising with prison partners, safer custody, offender management, probation plus external Mental Health and Drug services.

It is essential for applicants to demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills, compassion and empathy and have a good level of self-awareness.

Applicants also need to demonstrate a specific interest in working with this challenging and complex client group. The nature of this work is stressful so there is an expectation that successful applicants have a commitment to engaging in clinical supervision.

Inclusion are contracted to provide a fully integrated Mental Health & Psychosocial Substance Misuse Team. This is an exciting opportunity to join our dedicated multidisciplinary integrated team in HMP Featherstone.
