Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust (NUH) with a turnover of £900 million and 14,000 staff is one of the biggest and busiest acute teaching trusts in Europe. The maternity unit is one of the largest in England and is based over two sites and a vibrant community service; with NUH having approximately 9,000 births per year.

This is an exciting time to work for NUH as it is acquiring a national reputation for Nursing and Midwifery excellence; and has aspirations to be the first Magnet accredited hospital in the UK. Nottingham has also achieved the status of a Baby Friendly Accredited Trust from UNICEF.

An opportunity has arisen for you to join our Midwifery Team. You will be an experienced Band 6 midwife , and be confident to work autonomously in the hospital and within the community.

This a great opportunity to develop leadership and managerial skills with the support of the Community Midwifery management team. You will be leading and developing a small midwifery team under the guidance of a manager. Your role will involve co ordination of the Community Midwifery service on several shifts per month.

You will be based in the community providing antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care. NUH currently have two continuity of carer teams working across all sites and is in the process of introducing another team.

A community midwife is expected to cover a range of shifts including weekends, bank holidays and nights.

Full time post only available

You will be a car driver/owner with a clean driving licence

  • Your post maybe subject to a DBS check which incurs a cost dependent on the level of check required (£45 for enhanced and £28 for standard). I agree to reimburse NUH NHS Trust the cost of a DBS check if it is required (by deduction from first month’s pay). Should I decide to withdraw from my job offer, I agree to reimburse NUH NHS Trust the cost of the DBS check undertaken by cheque or other agreed method.
