Orthopaedic Support Secretary - Maternity Cover

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our Trauma and Orthopaedic secretariat within Surgical Specialties, to work closely with the consultants to provide them with administration support as well as being an integral member of the secretary and administration team.

 

The ideal candidate must have experience working as a secretary or equivalent qualifications, experience working within a medical administrative role is desirable. A knowledge of medical terminology and hospital computer systems are essential.

 

The candidate would be expected to type letters from audio dictation within an agreed timescale, answer the phone and deal with queries, management of consultants diary, clinic reductions, take minutes, general office duties including filing, photocopying and scanning. Each member of the team is expected to help out colleagues during times of sickness and annual leave absences.

 

This position is part time at 16 hours per week on a 12 month fixed term contract to cover maternity leave. There may be an element of cross site working between Warrington Hospital and the CMTC at Halton. Days of work are negotiable though must include a Monday and Friday and can be split over two or three days. The interview does include a typing test upon arrival. This position will be a band 3.

 

We are looking for someone who is conscientious and a strong team player, someone who understands the importance of data confidentiality and is comfortable communicating with both service users and all grades of staff. A charge of £60 (Enhanced) will be made by the successful candidate which will be deducted from the first 3 months’ salary. In addition to this, you will also be required to re-pay any future costs that may arise in relation to DBS fees.
