An exciting opportunity has arisen within the newly developing Hyper acute stroke unit at the Royal Sussex County Hospital band 5 Staff nurses. This new unit will focus on patients with acute stroke diagnosis. We will provide early treatment of stroke including thrombolysis and thrombectomy in accordance to national stroke guidelines.

The ward is fully supported by a Multi - Disciplinary team. An interest in working with people who have had strokes will be essential. We require dynamic individuals with excellent interpersonal communication skills. Continued professional development for both mentorship and stroke will be supported by an educator.

The band 5 nurses will be trained to hold the bleep and carry out thrombolysis and assist with thrombectomy’s on acute stroke patients coming into A+E.

The ongoing redevelopment at the RSCH site will lead to a new HASU opening within stage 1 of the 3Ts development programme. This is expected to open early 2021
