Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust
Royal Sussex County Hospital and Princess Royal Hospital, Brighton
£24,907 - £30,615 per annum

About our Trust

Our Trust is rated as ‘Outstanding for Caring’ by the CQC – fundamental to this is the way that we value and respect our staff. At every level, we value the diversity of our colleagues and actively champion an inclusive culture. We believe that everyone without exception should feel free to be their authentic self in the workplace.

We understand that work is only one part of life. We are committed to helping our colleagues achieve the best possible work/life balance. We proudly offer supportive, inclusive and family friendly employment and flexible working policies. We have a wide range of professional services and employee networks to help our colleagues be at their best - and find support if they need it.

Our Trust is already a Disability Confident employer and we are holding ourselves to account through the Workplace Disability Equality Standard (WDES). Our work on promoting equity and inclusion for our Black, and Minority Ethnic (BME) colleagues continues to be driven by engagement with the WRES (Workforce Race Equality Standard) and the WRES Experts Programme.

In 2019, we committed ourselves to becoming a Stonewall Top 100 LGBTQ+ Employer. We also support the national ‘Veteran Aware’ scheme and are an ERS Gold accredited Hospital who welcomes applications from all members of the Armed Forces communities.

For our patients, we do everything we can to deliver fair access to all our services. This includes providing interpretative and other services to meet the needs of disabled communities. We're careful to show sensitivity towards ethnic, cultural and religious differences. Our staff uphold these values and so help our care to get better all the time.

We welcome applications from qualified HCPC registered radiographers and final year student radiographers who have an interest in working at Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals and have practical radiography experience in an NHS setting and recent clinical experience in general radiography areas.

The Royal Sussex County Hospital (RSCH) site in Brighton currently has a £485 million investment for redevelopment nearing completion and this will include a new state of the art Imaging Department.

Our band 5 posts are rotational between the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton (RSCH) and Princess Royal Hospital in Haywards Heath (PRH) including 24 hour cover at RSCH. They also offer experience of working in our paediatric department in the Royal Alexandra Childrens Hospital on the RSCH site, our satellite department for GP work at Hove Polyclinic and the Orthopaedic Treatment Centre at the PRH site.

RSCH is the major trauma centre for Sussex and the South East Regional Neurosciences Unit at BSUH undertakes neurology and elective spinal work at PRH and intra cranial, acute spine and neuro vascular work at RSCH in Brighton.

The Trust’s specialised and tertiary services include arterial vascular surgery, neonatal, paediatrics, cardiac, cancer, renal, infectious diseases and HIV medicine.

Our department has held The Quality Standard for Imaging (formerly ISAS accreditation) since 2014 demonstrating our position as an excellent centre for imaging services.

Brighton is a vibrant city by the sea and the nearby town of Haywards Heath has easy access to the South Downs National Park. Both are within one hour of London by train.

As a Band 5 radiographer with us you will have the opportunity to develop your A&E experience in our busy 3 room A&E X-ray Department providing a 24 hour service for trauma and emergency work at RSCH. This will include participating in our 24 hour cover including weekend and night duties on this site.

You will also gain experience in mobile and theatre work, general radiography, fluoroscopy and paediatric radiography rotating through our general departments at RSCH, PRH and Hove Polyclinic and also our paediatric department at RACH.

Applicants must have current HCPC registration (students will be expected to have successfully registered with the HCPC on qualification and before beginning employment) and have clinical experience in an NHS environment.

In return for your commitment to us we will provide ongoing support for your professional development, as well as a friendly, challenging and stimulating work environment.

Our Trust is rated as ‘Outstanding for Caring’ by the CQC – fundamental to this is the way that we value and respect our staff.
