Donor Centre Administrator

Job Reference: 918-BA6110

NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT)
Nottingham Donor Centre
£19,737 to £21,142 pro rata

Our work is vitally important to the NHS. We collect thousands of blood donations every day in order to provide a constant supply to hospitals. Alongside this we also manage the Organ Donor Register and British Bone Marrow Registry. Each year, our work enables many people’s lives to be saved or dramatically improved by an organ or cornea transplant. We retrieve and store other tissue, like skin and bone, ready for use in life-saving and life-improving situations, and also manufacture and provide plasma products such as clotting agents.

Would you like to use your communication skills where they will make a real difference to the lives of thousands of people every year? Then come and provide the vital back-up we need behind the scenes here at NHS Blood and Transplant.

You will recruit, maintain and manage donors to maximise donor loyalty and provide a comprehensive administration service. Your varied tasks will range from organising the unit diary, updating and maintaining records, liaising with contractors, managing staff training and ordering new equipment and consumables. The role will involve contact with a wide range of health professionals and other agencies as well as regular telephone contact, and face to face contact, with members of the public whilst running a busy Reception desk.

To join the team, you’ll need experience of managing a busy office in a service or people-focused environment, maintaining electronic and paper-based records and processing documentation. All round administration skills with a good grasp of Microsoft Office, Spreadsheets and Databases. With excellent organisational and prioritising skills, you should be a relationship-builder with a positive, flexible approach to your work.

Please be aware that a disclosure certificate from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) will be requested in the event of a successful application for this role, however we would like to state that a criminal record will not necessarily be a bar to obtaining employment within the organisation.

This vacancy will close at 23.59 on Sunday 27th September with interview anticipated to take place Week Commencing Monday 5th October (subject to confirmation).
