North Yorkshire Diabetic Eye Screening Programme is looking to recruit a Screening and Administrative Assistant to join the team based in the York area. Previous experience is not essential as full training will be given.

North Yorkshire Diabetic Eye Screening Programme delivers a screening service to over 42,000 people with diabetes across North Yorkshire.

The post on offer is primarily based in York and the successful candidate will join the locality team delivering retinal screening and administrative support in the surrounding area.

The post holder will also be called to deliver the service in other areas covered by the service as and when required, therefore it is essential you hold a full driving licence as equipment will need to be transported around the locality in specific Trust vehicles.

Being on the front line of service delivery, the Screening and Administrative Assistant will have contact with patients and their carers, GP Practice Teams and various other agencies. This will require a high level of communication skills and customer care skills are essential to ensure good relationships are developed across a diverse area.

The post holder will be expected to rotate between clinical work and administrative duties, and in addition to the clinical role, will be responsible for:

  • taking telephone calls from patients
  • booking, cancelling and rearranging appointments
  • ensuring the database is accurately updated accordingly.

Experience in using windows-based computer systems is required.

It's not just the area that's a great draw. In addition, as a member of our team you’ll have access to one of the most generous and comprehensive pension schemes in the UK, a minimum of 27 days annual leave (on top of Bank Holidays) and an award-winning package of staff benefits (see link on the right).

Please note this vacancy may close early should we receive a high volume of applications, therefore please submit your application as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.

Please also note that interviews will be taking place via WebEx on either Monday 5th or Tuesday 6th October 2020.

Tier 2 Certificate of Sponsorship

Applications from job seekers who require current Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. However, non-EEA candidates may not be appointed to a post if a suitably qualified, experienced and skilled EU/EEA candidate is available to take up the post as the employing body is unlikely, in these circumstances, to satisfy the current Resident Labour Market Test which will be in place until the end of December 2020. UK Visas and Immigration requires employers to complete this test to show that no suitably qualified EEA or EU worker can fill the post. For further information please visit the UK Visas and Immigration website.

From 6 April 2017, Tier 2 skilled worker applicants, applying for entry clearance into the UK, have had to present a criminal record certificate from each country they have resided continuously or cumulatively for 12 months or more in the past 10 years. Adult dependants (over 18 years old) are also subject to this requirement.
