We have an exciting new opportunity for a Band 5 Pharmacy Technician to join our friendly team at Worthy Down, Winchester.

The position is part time offering 18.75 hours per week.

The successful candidate will be providing primary and occupational Healthcare in line with GMC Standards ensuring that the organisational and Senior Medical Officer's objectives are achieved to optimise patient care for the Winchester Garrison Medical Group Practice.

Winchester Group Practice includes ATR Winchester, Worthy Down and Marchwood so working flexibly between the 3 sites is a requirement.

Duties of the role include but are not limited to:

  • Providing a Pharmacy dispensing service for the Medical facility to entitled personnel so that the Senior Medical Officer (SMO) primary purposes can be achieved.
  • Being the Dispensary Lead, ensuring policies and procedures are adhered to IAW current Legal and defence policy.

  • Appropriately managing medications, including disposal on a stock and expiry date rotation basis in accordance with current defence policy.

  • Liaising with internal and external agencies on all matters relating to pharmaceutical items.

  • Aiding in the development and training of clinical staff through placements or training.

Applicants must hold:

  • Knowledge of Pharmaceutical technical procedures acquired through training, NVQ 3, BTEC in Pharmaceutical science or equivalent level plus other additional training for checking dispensed prescriptions, supervising a technical area within a pharmacy to degree or equivalent level, or knowledge of medicines management including relevant legislation or policies. Practical experience to be able to operate in a singleton post.
  • Registered under Part 1-Practising of the Register of Pharmacy Technicians with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPC).

There is no requirement to deploy as this is met by our uniformed personnel but you will form the continuity of care required by our patients when based at home.

All employees joining Ministry of Defence who are new to the Civil Service will be subject to a 6-month probation period (unless otherwise advised) effective from the employment start date.
