Psychologist

15 hour/week over 2 days 

The post is a role in a therapeutic environment, i.e., Sequoia Therapeutic Community (TC) (accredited by the Royal College of Psychiatrists Community of Communities) facilitating and participating in daily group work of maximum of 20 community members who have the diagnosis of Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder. The Post Holder will be expected to carry out all relevant forms of care, therapy and group work.

 

The Post Holder is expected to supervise junior staff and be able to participate in the teaching of qualified and unqualified staff including basic/or post basic students. The Post Holder will be expected to provide individual formulations and to facilitate groups within the TC with the aim of enabling and promoting full recovery with a discharge plan to live independently into the community.

 

Working as part of a small team is essential and working in an open and transparent nature is imperative to the development and needs of the services user. This work is often challenging but rewarding on a daily basis therefore high levels of positivity and energy is essential for self, the team and the members to be able to remain resilient and enjoy your daily tasks.

 

A clinical registration is essential as risk management is an integral part of managing the complexity of the service users who are enrolled onto the therapy programme. Experience of working with emotional unstable personality is essential and therapy qualifications / training such as DBT/ MBT would be desirable. We are a small team who are fortunate to receive excellent external supervision, both on work related issues and personal and how this challenging work can impact upon our own stressors it is essential that the individual is able to work in an open and transparent manner both with staff and service users.

 

It is a community based therapy programme for a maximum of 20 service users attending three days a week 10-3pm.

All positions are subject to the receipt of satisfactory references and medical clearance. Evidence of valid professional registration and appropriate DBS clearances will also be required where relevant. All posts will also be subject to successful completion of a 12 week probationary period.
