A vacancy has arisen for a Band 7 Clinical Psychologist to work within Older People’s Mental Health (OPMH) services within Hywel Dda University Health Board based in Ceredigion in West Wales. Your role will be to deliver specialist evidence-based psychological assessment and interventions to clients over 65 in a variety of settings, from our inpatient psychiatric ward to working with the Community Mental Health Team across the locality. You will also provide specialist neuropsychometric assessment and interventions in our Memory Assessment Service, including working with younger clients with dementia.

You will have a commitment and enthusiasm for working with this client group and an interest in lifespan development, neuropsychometric assessment and working with staff teams and systems as well as directly with clients and their families. In return, you will have supervision and support in professional development from the Consultant Clinical Psychologist and a chance to join a supportive OPMH team where Clinical Psychology is valued and where the small Specialty team of Clinical Psychologists are proactive in service developments and modernisation. The OPMH Psychology service is strongly embedded into the broader Older People’s Mental Health teams and services.

Applications are invited from Clinical Psychologists with a passion for later life psychology who are interested to work as part of multi-professional teams as well as within an OPMH Psychology service which actively supports professional development and which is committed to excellent client care and service improvement and with strong links to the South Wales Clinical Psychology Doctorate training programme.


The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post. English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
