An exciting opportunity has arisen for 1 Band 7 Nurses to carry out a scoping exercise to assess health needs in school and inform most appropriate provision and model of delivery to meet these needs in future commissioning arrangements. These posts are for 9.5 month period from start date.

Schools are increasingly managing a range of health needs within an education setting. The scoping project will provide quality data and reports that the CCG will interpret to determine future plans.

One of these nurses will work in the 10 special schools in Sheffield, the other will work into a pilot area of 2 school locality areas (to be confirmed).

These roles will:

  • identify and describe what current health needs exist in schools and what support and interventions are required to help manage these on an ongoing basis. This will then help to inform commissioning plans in future; and

  • be a first step in developing a school-based, locality model of healthcare services for children, which supports the NHS Long Term Plan commitments to boost ‘out-of-hospital’ care and provide holistic care across local authority and NHS services.

  • update managing health needs in schools guidance and produce a training plan to support implementation of the guidance.

 

The post holder will be a Registered Childrens Nurse with a teaching & assessing qualification, experience of developing, delivering and evaluating educational provision and training needs and be able to work independently and autonomously in a range of settings.

This is customarily payable over 4 months as a salary deduction once employed by the Trust. If you receive a conditional offer letter, complete your DBS application and later withdraw from the recruitment process, an invoice will be raised via the Trust's finance department to recoup the outlay.
