Applications are invited for the above post at the University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust serving the patients of Lancaster, Kendal, Barrow and the South Lake District. This is a 12 month fixed term contract and you will have the opportunity to become part of an innovative and forward thinking Urology team comprising of 6 Consultants, 2 Associate Specialists, 2 Specialty Doctors, 3 Nurse Practitioners, 3 Cancer Nurse Specialists and several other Junior Doctors. The site will be determined on discussion with the successful applicant.

The focus of the Urology Department and Trust as a whole is to provide personal, patient centred care of the highest possible quality. You will be expected to work at several hospital sites and your job plan may be subject to change depending on the demands on the service. You will need to be adaptable and to be able to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

You must be fully registered with the GMC and hold a Licence to Practice and must have a minimum of 1 year of Urology experience.

You will require excellent communication skills and will be expected to take an active role in audit, clinical governance and teaching.

You can look forward to working in an area of outstanding natural beauty, around and within the Lake District National Park. The area affords excellent recreational opportunities, particularly related to the sea, lakes, fells and countryside. There are excellent local schools including extremely high achieving Grammar Schools. There are also excellent transport links with good access to the M6 motorway and direct rail links to Manchester and its airport as well as London.

The University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust has a keen interest and extensive involvement in Medical and Dental Education at both Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels. We work in partnership with Lancaster Medical School, North Western Deaneryand Health Education North West to provide quality education and training which meets the requirements of these regulatory bodies as well as the Trust’s high standards of patient care. UHMBFT provides one of the main NHS settings for students from Lancaster Medical School as we co-ordinate, deliver and quality assure the clinical component of Lancaster Medical Schools MBChB degree programme.
