Plastic Surgery Minor Operations Service (NOC MOPS)

Are you interested in joining a small, friendly team that is continually striving to improve the standard and quality of care for our Local Anaesthetic Plastic Surgery patients, in an outpatient setting?

The Plastic Surgery Minor Operation Service (based at the NOC) is open from 08:00 to 18:00 Monday - Saturday with a possibility of further evening and weekend clinics in the future.

Do you have experience of working in theatres with strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills and a passion for the highest standards of perioperative care and safety? If so then we would like you to encourage you to come and join our team. Due to an increase in activities within our service we are looking for a passionate and dedicated nurse to work in the NOC MOPS Service.

A flexible attitude is required to deliver patient care and meet service demands. You may be based on one site but there is an expectation for you to be deployed to other units to provide assistance as required, therefore, a flexible attitude is required to accommodate the surgical requirements of each department.

Prospective applicants will have post registration experience as a theatre scrub practitioner. If you would relish the challenge of developing your surgical and managerial skill in this area, we will consider your application. You will be expected to lead in the delivery of safe, evidence base patient care and be able to demonstrate strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skill. Your development will involve an induction period that includes competencies to achieve and this is supported with a clearly defined educational strategy detailing continuing professional development. Experienced staff are encouraged and supported to further develop using the educational and experiential learning opportunities available.

As a Band 6 Deputy Sister / Charge Nurse you will contribute to the smooth running of the department, acting as a role model for junior team members and support the development and delivery of a high standard of nursing care. You will work closely with the Department Sister managing the unit on a day to day basis providing clinical and managerial leadership to the team.

We aim to provide a service tailored to individual patients’ needs as well as ensuring staff are supported through clinical supervision, educational programmes and on-going professional development. We actively support nurse-led activities and research, offering opportunities for professional and personal development.

This is a full time post of 37.5hrs per week.
