Cross Sectional Radiographer - Band 6 - Radiology - 37.5hpw full time, permanent


Could you help West Suffolk Hospital to deliver the best quality and safest care to our local community?


West Suffolk Hospital Radiology department is looking to recruit CT and/or MRI Radiographers to join our friendly and hardworking team of cross-sectional staff. The successful candidate(s) will be a key member of the cross sectional team working with a high level of competence in either MRI or CT or across both modalities for those with dual experience.


Applications from individuals who have a genuine passion for cross-sectional imaging, demonstrate enthusiasm and willingness to learn would also be considered for a training post.


We have two 1.5T Siemens Magnets including an Aera and Symphony TIM with plans for a third scanner. MRI is a busy department, scanning about 15,000 examinations per annum with a varied case mix. Whilst we do not offer cardiac MRI we perform neuro, MSK, stroke, oncology, vascular, breast, abdominal, urological and gynaecological imaging. The service currently operates extended days, weekends and bank holidays. Successful applicants with MRI experience will be expected to support this service provision.


We also have a very busy CT department with two GE scanners scanning about 26,000 per annum. Much of the work load is for cancer diagnosis and staging but also performing neuro, stroke, vascular, MSK, and radiographer led CTC’s. The CT service is looking to extend hours of operation and are seeking candidates that are able to support extended working day patterns.

We work closely with our Radiologists and have excellent teaching and governance support processes in place. For Band 1 and Band 2 posts, the cost of the DBS Disclosure will be met by the Trust. However, any employees at Band 1 and Band 2 who leave the Trust within six months of commencing their post will have a £10 administration fee deducted from their final salary. For posts at Band 3 and above, the cost of the Disclosure will be met by the appointed employee and deducted in instalments from their salary over a period of three months. If the employee leaves the Trust within three months of commencing their post, any outstanding payments will be deducted from their final pay.
