Post Commencing as soon as possible

The paediatric department at The Countess of Chester NHS Foundation Trust welcomes you to apply for this Trust Grade post.. We are a friendly, supportive and cohesive team. Our busy department offers an excellent standard of training. Chester is a beautiful, historic city surrounded by the Cheshire and North Wales countryside. Chester has excellent transport links to Manchester, Liverpool, North Wales and London.

The post-holder will have responsibility for providing service at Tier 2 level and will be responsible for supervising the Tier 1 Specialty and Foundation Trainees and their daily management of patients. The posts offer comprehensive training in all aspects of hospital paediatrics including outpatient and neonatal care. Previous doctors working in these posts have progressed onto the specialty training programme in paediatrics. In 2017 The Countess of Chester Hospital was awarded ‘Best Training Unit in the Mersey Deanery’ by PAFTA (Paediatric Awards for Training Achievements).

Applicants must be competent at the level of ST3 equivalent or above. Candidates must have a minimum 18 months on-call experience within paediatrics including neonates and a min of 12 months UK experience at ST2 level.. APLS & NLS (or equivalent) certificates are essential. MRCPCH Parts 1 A&B are highly desirable.

Although this appointment does not have educational approval, post-holders will be covering a training post and afforded access to educational and training activities, including an educational supervisor. An active educational programme is provided.

The successful applicant will participate in a 7 person full-shift rota.

Salary will be on the Specialty Registrar (New Contract) Basic Salary is £49,036. In addition to basic salary you will receive additional pay elements for the rota.

The Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust consists of a 600 bedded large district General Hospital, which provides its services on the Countess of Chester Health Park, and a 64 bedded Intermediate Care Service at Ellesmere Port Hospital. The Trust has almost 4,000 staff and provides a range of medical services to more than 445,000 patients per year from areas covering Western Cheshire, Ellesmere Port, Neston and North Wales.

If subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1975, then a disclosure submission will be made to the Disclosure & Barring service (formerly CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions. The cost of the DBS application is £28 (standard) or £45 (enhanced), this cost will be deducted from your salary over the first three months of employment.
