Band 8b Nurse Consultant Advanced Practice - Community Health Services (Subject to Banding)

We are offering a fantastic and rare opportunity for a highly experienced and expert Advanced Nurse Practitioner to join our service and to take on the role of Nurse Consultant in Advanced Practice. You will lead and develop our team of advanced nurse practitioners and together you will work with Consultant Geriatricians to deliver a high standard of care to patients in our community hospitals.

In Community Health Services we are committed to ensuring that our community hospitals provide the optimal care for patients, specifically the frail older person. We recognise that the Advanced Nurse Practitioner role is a cutting edge function which crosses professional boundaries, undertaking traditional medical roles and leading the pathway into professional practice. We believe that it is a role model of excellence in the delivery of holistic care and is central to the nursing leadership and future clinical developments in the division.

We are looking for an exceptional Nurse Consultant to be a leader, change agent and advocate, helping us to meet daily challenges.

What are we looking for?

The successful candidate will be expected to have extensive post registration experience as an advanced nurse practitioner, a strong academic track record and will have published or be in the process of doing so.

The candidate will also be expected to practice autonomously at an advanced level in the delivery of high quality, safe and supportive care.

The role blends a significant proportion of direct, high level clinical care with education, research and leadership which will:

  • Focus on the delivery and maintenance of clinical excellence;
  • Provide an expert consultancy service to patients, carers and colleagues;
  • Plan, implement and evaluate evidence based care;
  • Contribute to the development of the service by taking an active role in generating and disseminating knowledge across the organisation;
  • Undertake research within area of specialty that focuses on improving outcomes and experiences for patients, families and carers;
  • Facilitate and provide education and training to staff and students.
