Band 6 Rotational Occupational Therapist Stroke/Neurology Service

Permanent

37.5 hours (part time and bank considered)

Mon – Fri (plus weekend and Bank Holiday roster)

We have a rare opportunity to gain a highly sought after band 6 rotational post specialising in Neurology and Stroke. These posts are always very popular and highly desirable as they include rotations in Acute Stroke, Early Supported Discharge Service (ESDS), Specialist Neurological Rehab Unit, Brain Injury Unit and Acute Neurology. These areas are much specialised and offer considerable experience working with a diverse range of stroke and neurological patients in a variety of health care settings.

The rotations are 12 months long in order to allow you to develop your skills in each area and become part of the team. You will work alongside highly skilled clinical specialist staff from the MDT and will be supported by a Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist within each of the rotations. There is a structured support network in each rotation so you will receive regular supervision and appraisals. There is a training programme in place in each rotational area and a comprehensive induction package. You will join a very supportive team of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and support staff that pride themselves on their team work. There will be opportunities to learn and attend external training but you will also be expected to take an active role in your continuous personal development in order to develop your skills within this speciality.

The successful candidate will be expected to support and train less experienced staff and to be a clinical educator to students from a number of different universities across the country. There will also be opportunities for being involved in service development, research, audit and education to MDT professions at pre and post registration level.

To be successfully shortlisted for this post you must demonstrate that you have experience of working with stroke or neurology patients and a genuine desire to work in this field. We will expect you to demonstrate excellent communication and time management skills and the ability to work on your own and within a team. One of the rotations requires a car that can be used for work purposes and a UK driving licence.
